Imagine losing 4.6 billion in just one day? What can you do with all that money? I wouldn’t know how to spend that much, honestly. This amount represents the devaluation of Elon Musk’s fortune, according to the Forbes page that reports in real time the rise and fall of the fortunes of the richest people in the world.

Musk, with an estimated fortune of $258 billion is, not really surprisingly, number 1 on this list. As for the amount he lost in a single day, it represents only 1.76% of his fortune. It is certainly not a figure that scares him! The difference between him and the second on the list, the Frenchman Bernard Arnault, is more than 93 billion. Hard to reach it, isn’t it?

There are so few billionaires that it is possible to list them. Forbes not only makes this list but keeps it updated in real-time.

Below is the list of the 5 richest people in the world according to the Forbes list in August 2022:

To be a billionaire you must have a net worth of $1 billion or more. In other words, if you can sell all of your assets for cash, pay off your debts, and have $1 billion remaining in the bank afterward, you are a billionaire.

No doubt millions of people around the world would like to figure out how to make so much money. But there is actually no single type of business that will make you a billionaire. After all, the 5 richest people of 2022 own very different businesses: technology, commodities, online sales, and luxury goods.

Let’s understand a little how they got there!

Elon Musk

The first time he appeared on Forbes’ list of billionaires was in 2012, with an estimated fortune of $2 billion. In 10 years it went to $258 billion. Despite staying on the Forbes billionaires list for 10 years, only in the last two years has his wealth multiplied to the point that this year he took over the top of the list, above Bezos, who was the leader of this list in 2021. As Tesla’s shares, his electric car company, have continued to rise, he now comfortably holds the top position.

One of its main companies, Tesla develops and produces electric cars and batteries. In 2017 it became the most valuable automaker in the United States, surpassing giants such as General Motors and Ford, even though it has fewer sales and little international presence.

When he returned to France, he worked in the textile industry. He then began the acquisition of his group of companies, which became major brands that today are synonymous with luxury and coveted around the world.

He then became CEO of Financière Agache S.A. and Dior. He launched his own haute couture brand with the help of the designer Christian Lacroix.

In the following years, he also acquired the champagnes Moët and Krug and the cognac house Hennessy.

In July 2008 Forbes magazine placed him as the largest shareholder of Carrefour.

In 1989 he became the main shareholder of the LVMH group (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy). As its chairman, he created the world’s first luxury group with more than 70 brands in the areas of fashion and cosmetics.
