Movies are among the kind of art that everybody loves, or at least has some kind of favorite genre.

However, there are some movies that completely bashed away the box office, making them win a lot of money.

Here are the movies that made rivers of cash.

Nearly all of the characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe came together for a galactic clash with the series’ Big Bad, Thanos, just shy of ten years after it first debuted.

The movie had one of the most daring cliffhangers in the history of any franchise, making viewers wait in suspense for the conclusion of Phase 3 of the epic series for an entire year.

 With $257.6 million, the movie broke The Force Awakens’ three-day opening weekend record. In 48 days, it reached the $2 billion milestone.

It would ultimately fall barely short of Black Panther, which was released two months earlier, domestically.

J.J. Abrams was given the difficult and challenging assignment of directing Episode VII twelve years after the prequel trilogy’s conclusion.

 After the prequels, did people’s interests remain intact? Were they exhausted? Combining the old and the new was the strategy, and it was successful.

The opportunity for interaction between a new cast of characters and the original three of Luke, Han, and Leia was provided by J.J. Abrams, and generations of fans were so eager for the adventure that they gave the movie the highest opening weekend ever ($247.9 million).

The Force Awakens passed Avatar to become the all-time domestic champion in just under three weeks, surpassing it inside 54 days and joining the $2 billion club. It continues to be the most successful domestic release of all time.

James Cameron produces pricey films. When they were first released, The Abyss, Terminator 2, and True Lies were the most expensive films ever made.

Again, exceeding the budget in 1997, there were concerns that Cameron had gone too far this time.

 Despite being released from July to December late, Titanic nonetheless became a worldwide sensation that the box office had never seen before.

Titanic, its stars, and its song were indelible in the hearts and tear ducts of the world after 15 weeks at number one, 14 Oscar nominations, and 11 statuettes.

The movie would hold the all-time box office record for 12 years – until director James Cameron would surpass himself once more with another entry.

For some of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the adventure that started in 2008 with Iron Man was coming to a conclusion.

After maybe the biggest cliffhanger since Empire Strikes Back, audiences had been holding their breath for a full year.

When they finally had the opportunity to purchase tickets, they rushed to do so. Avengers: Endgame’s opening weekend in April 2019 broke the previous record set by Infinity War by around $100 million.

The movie’s domestic box office earnings reached half a billion in just eight days. It was over $621 million on day 10.

Early on in its run, Endgame began to provide signs that its spectacular sprinting start might not be enough for it to ultimately defeat James Cameron’s epic. It only had the second-biggest second weekend ever and the fourth-best third weekend.

 Even a record-breaker can be front-loaded in the modern era of the blockbuster and only hold the top spot for three weeks.

At some point, Endgame was the highest-grossing movie, until #1 got back to reclaim its crown

The world had to wait almost 12 years for James Cameron to release his successor to the greatest movie of all time to the original.

Nobody anticipated that this narrative of an extraterrestrial planet and the paraplegic Marine who joins its inhabitants in the fight for unobtanium would eclipse Titanic’s sales figures.

Though he did. Avatar’s seven consecutive weekends at the top of the charts helped the film earn more than $595 million in North American box office receipts amid the height of a 3-D resurgence, helped by the director’s customary technological gamesmanship (and higher ticket costs).

Then, on February 2, 2010, the movie’s 47th day of release, it surpassed all previous records for domestic box office take.

Avatar was the only movie to ever make $2 billion outside of the United States and Canada, making it the highest-grossing movie in the world at the time. It held that record for five years and eleven months.

For almost ten years, it maintained its incredible global record before Avengers: Endgame came along and grabbed it away.

However, with the release of Avatar 2, the now-Disney-owned and rebranded 20th Century Studios made the decision to remind everyone that the franchise still existed by re-releasing the movie in China in March 2021 and, whether on purpose or not, reclaiming the top spot.
